You choose the trail and the experience. Spring Splash will provide all the fun you can handle. Every ATV and UTV rental includes a free truck and trailer. Each UTV is equipped with GPS trail navigation, so even though the ride is unguided, you can explore confidently and stay oriented the entire time. As the snow melts, the mountains come alive—forests turn vibrant green, puddles form perfect spots for splash-filled fun, and sweeping viewpoints reveal some of the most stunning scenery in Colorado. Many riders spot moose along quiet stretches of the trail or stop to check out old mining sites scattered throughout the backcountry. With routes suited for every skill level, it’s easy to build an outing that fits your group, whether you’re seeking adrenaline, scenery, or simply time together. More About the Adventure
We have told you about the Spring Splash unguided ATV adventure. Now let our customers tell you how they actually feel about it. This is what we got back from ChatGPT when asked for a summary of our 3000+ Google reviews:
Backbone Adventures customers consistently rave about the quality of the experience from start to finish. Reviewers frequently mention how easy and stress-free the process is. Many guests highlight the friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful staff, noting that even though the rides are unguided, the team makes them feel fully supported and confident before heading out. Riders also praise the well-maintained machines, describing them as powerful, reliable, and perfect for both first-timers and seasoned off-roaders. The scenery is one of the most celebrated aspects—customers often call out the incredible mountain views, peaceful meadows, and the thrill of exploring wide-open trails at their own pace. Large groups and families frequently appreciate how smoothly Backbone accommodates different ages, abilities, and group sizes. Above all, the most common opinion is that this adventure delivers outstanding value, unforgettable memories, and one of the best outdoor experiences in Estes Park.
Area We Service
We see ATV Rental customers from Texas, Florida, New York, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, California, and every other state. Believe it or not, we get a lot of customers from France, Germany, Canada, and the U.K.. Locally, we get riders from Northern Colorado and towns like Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, and even other tourist towns near I-70 like Breckenridge, Winter Park, Grand Lake, and Vail.
What is an ATV | UTV
Some people don’t understand the difference between an ATV or a UTV. An ATV is otherwise known as a quad or 4-wheeler. It has handlebars and no roll cage. A UTV, otherwise known as a side x side, buggy, or SxS, has a roll cage and can fit multiple passengers. It drives like a beefed up (made for offroad), fast, 4×4.

Our Promise
Unlike other rental companies, when you rent with Backbone Adventures, what you see is what you get! Addtionally, we post photos of our actual machines, riders, and trails. As a result, our service is the best in the business. Our equipment is brand new and we maintain everything meticulously. Also, we are family owned and operated. We’re going to treat you how we like to be treated.
Damage Protection
During checkout, you can unselect Damage Protection. It is preselected because we do strongly advise it. The protection covers all 4 tires ($250 each) and gives you a deductible of $1500. This means the maximum you will pay out of pocket if you damage the machine is $1500. We pay everything after that. The cost of a 4-seat UTV for example is $30,000. So, the protection has great value. You know what they say, “You don’t need insurance until you do”.
Group Rides & Guiding
If you’re putting together a group, team building, corporate, family reunion, bachelor | bachelorette party, or wedding event, give us a call at (970) 235-5045. We can save you some money and fullfill your special requests. If you book far enough in advance, we can accommodate up to 80 people. If you would like an ATV guided tour, we can accommodate that, but only with our Meeker Mountain Adventure.
Cancellation Policy | Trip Protection | Rebooking
Unless you purchase Trip Protection, cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before your scheduled reservation time. Furthermore, cancellations must be made by phone—emails are not accepted. Finally, if you fail to show up for your reservation (“no show”), you will not receive a refund.
To give you more flexibility, we offer Trip Protection. This allows you to cancel for any reason up to 1 hour before your ride. You can add Trip Protection during your online booking or over the phone.
If you need to reschedule your ride, please call us directly. We’re happy to help with rebooking when possible, within the terms of our policy.
