Basic Certification
This certification is the minimum requirement for an employee to ride an ATV. Before you take the online test, you must watch the ATV Safety video on this page. With this certification you are NOT authorized to instruct or do orientations for customers or any other rider. Even after you pass the online test, you must ride with an instructor and pass a basic operation / riding test before you’re given your certification. Abeviation: BC
Advanced Certification
The comprehensive advanced certification test is conducted in person and in a controlled envirnoment with no phones, comupters, or not pads allowed. To complete your advanced certification, a driving test on a Rocky Mountain trail will be conducted by an instructor. This certification is a requirement to qualify for Instructor and / or Guide certifications. You will not pass the written test unless you read the Advanced Certification Training document and take in all the information in the ATV Safety video and ATV Riding Technics video. Abreviation: AC
Instructor Certification
The Instructor certification qualifies you to instruct employees, customers, and to conduct basic and advanced certification test (written and driving). To become a certified instructor you must have Advanced Certification, Class 1 Mechanic Functions Certification, complete 100 miles of Rocky Mountain trail riding in various terrain difficulties, and finalize another ride in various test sections with an instructor. Instructor levels: JAM (journeyman), PRO, and ELITE. 100 miles, 500 miles, and 1000 miles respectfully. See Instructor and Guide profiles. Abreviations: I-JAM, I-PRO, and I-ELITE
Guide Certification
The Guide certification qualifies you to guide employees or customers. Only a certified instructor and guide instructor at the PRO or ELITE level can test you for guide certification. The test will be a guiding experience where you will be tasked with guiding the instructor and at least one other rider through various terrain dificulties. Guide levels: JAM (journeyman), PRO, and ELITE. 20 miles, 100 miles, 1000 miles respectfully. Abreviations: G-JAM, G-PRO, and G-ELITE.
Class 1, 2, 3, and 4 Mechanic Functions Certifications
The mechanical functions certification tests your knowledge of mechanical parts and functions so you can conduct a reliable pre-ride inspection as well as diagnose and repair issues. Only a class 2 can certify a class 1. Only a class 3 can certify and class 2, etc… See CMF Requirements. Abreviations: CMF1, 2, 3, or 4
Summery
To do orientations at the shop or on trail, you need the Advanced Certification, Instructor Certification (JAM minimum), and at least Class 1 (CMF1) Certification.
